DKN Podcast Format Change

I had posted a blurb to our Facebook page a week or two ago that our format for the podcast will be indefinitely changed. This change may end up being permanent or it may be changed as time progresses; depending on what we think best serves the podcast and the content we present as well as keeping our listeners in mind to give them the best experience as possible.

To let those know who are not aware of the format change (or those who knew about it but need a reminder), the DKN podcast format will consist of news at the beginning of each episode followed by, either, a movie review or a discussion of the two TokuZone episodes. Since, in most months, we record two podcasts a month, the first episode of each month will consist of our discussing the TokuZone shows. The final episode of each month will consist of a movie review.

For the two months a year where we record three episodes, the first two episodes of the month will be a discussion of the TokuZone shows and the final show will be a movie review.

Why are we doing this?

There are a couple of different reasons:

One is because our recordings run anywhere between 3-4 hours, or better. We’ve noticed, with these longer recording sessions, our energy becomes sapped around the 2-2.5 hour mark. It has gotten to a point where we try to just hurry through the final one or two topics, because we’re becoming exhausted.

A second reason is that, by focusing simply on just the TokuZone or a movie review each episode, the recordings will be shorter and, therefore, allow us to provide you, the listener, with higher quality discussions of the shows and movies. We can go into further depth of the shows and movies without feeling like we are being constrained by time. This, in turn, will benefit listeners with more indepth discussion of the topics.

Sure, our episodes, as a result, will probably be shorter, but that may be helpful for some listeners as well. While we’ve never received complaints about episodes being long, we do think this may bring them to a more reasonable length for listeners.
