Godzilla Final Four 2013: The Elite Eight
April 8, 2013Godzilla: The Half-Century War #4 Review
April 13, 20131. Godzilla Vs. Biollante: The, now, leaves us with the #1 film of 2012-2013: Godzilla Vs. Biollante.
Not too long ago, I wouldn’t have even considered this movie to be in the top half of any favorites list of mine. How quickly things change! Even in 1996, I thought the movie was decent, but disappointing for the most part.
It had been a longer period of time, for me, in between viewings of Godzilla Vs. Biollante than it had been for Godzilla. When I watched the movie for the first time in many years last summer, I was floored by how much I enjoyed it. I got into the characters more, had forgotten how much Godzilla was in the movie, and appreciated the story more than I had in years past.
In the past year, I watched Godzilla Vs. Biollante more than any other Godzilla film: Four times. Now that doesn’t seem like much, but when you’re working 60+ hours a week for a number of months and are planning your own wedding during much of the last year, that says a lot.
I have to admit, too, that this film will probably be forever associated with Ness’s and my cat, Sylvester, who passed away February 6th at the age of 16. We had watched this movie shortly before getting him in 1996, and this was the last Godzilla film I watched before he passed away. I guess that’ll mean this film will have sentimental value attached to it from here on out.
Godzilla Vs. Biollante, is my #1 Godzilla film for the past year.
I hope you all enjoyed this list, and I encourage all of you to make your own and share them with us as well!
