PXCR Total Axess: Episode 2
April 4, 2013Godzilla Final Four 2013: The Mighty Twelve
April 7, 201317. Destroy All Monsters: Destroy All Monsters seems to be nearly a universal favorite amongst most fans. While I do enjoy much of the movie, I was disappointed at how little screen time many of the kaiju get and how bland the story is periodically.
When I first saw the film in 1998, I remember enjoying it, but being very disappointed, because this film was always mentioned by fans as being the Godzilla movie. As “The End” came up on the movie, I felt entertained, but unimpressed. The movie never quite felt like it was grand in scale even when compared to some of the previous eight movies in the franchise at that point.
The daikaiju goodness is present, but sparse. I was disappointed, too, that none of some of the other bigger Godzilla actors made it into the film (Akihiko Hirata, Akira Takarada, Kumi Mizuno, and Hiorshi Koizumi just to name a few).
The movie is still pretty fun; it’s not quite my cup of tea like it is with most fans.
