Planet X Control Room: Episode 63
August 16, 2014Kent Reviews “Attack From Space”
August 18, 2014We originally began as Godzilla Planet on March 2010 and started the very first podcast episode of Planet X Control Room in early April 2010 after the announcement of Legendary Pictures acquiring the rights to produce a Godzilla film. However, with no new news on the Godzilla film, Godzilla Planet and Planet X Control Room went on a year-and-a-half hiatus after our podcast episode was released on April 2011.
In 2012, Kent and I heard of more news on the new Godzilla film and decided to bring back Godzilla Planet and Planet X Control Room. This was around the same time we attended to our very first G-FEST event in G-FEST XIX. We’ve continued to provide many more PXCR podcast episodes and news content from Godzilla Planet ever since then, and never slowed down also.
Then, on February 24, 2013 on Episode 31 of Planet X Control Room, Kent and I announced that Godzilla Planet was being consolidated under the Planet X Control Room umbrella – focusing more on the podcast, reducing the workload and also avoid any trademark issues as well as us wanting to go into the merchandise business for PXCR.
Now, today on August 16, 2014, after a year-and-a-half of our Godzilla Planet consolidation announcement, we are charting on a new chapter for us, and rebranding Planet X Control Room to Daikaiju Network! With this, the podcast will also be rebranded to Daikaiju Network Podcast, or DKN Podcast for short.
First, I would like to say that this will be the last time we will be rebranding ourselves; but, there’s a logical reason that made us come to this decision. Although Planet X Control Room is a very creative and unique brand to the daikaiju universe, we simply didn’t have a recognizable name and not a whole lot of traffic to PXCR than we anticipated. This was when both Kent and I decided that we needed a name that would be recognizable for all daikaiju fans. Thus, we are rebranding Planet X Control Room to Daikaiju Network. It’s a basic name, yet really identifiable, short and powerful.
The new Daikaiju Network logo also shows that basic but powerful statement. The DKN logo will still carry on the very same color scheme that we used from the very beginning in 2010 and to carry-on the rich history we’ve had here.
Also, another reason for us to rebranding is that we’re moving away from providing news content, as there are many great sites out there that provide great daikaiju-related news content; however, we’ll cover certain news items on Daikaiju Network that’s deemed newsworthy to us. We’ll still cover news items on the podcast. We’ll be focusing more on producing content from videos to essays, much like we are doing with the podcast as it is content produced. This will relieve a lot of work off of our shoulders, especially when it comes to providing news.
Nevertheless, both Kent and I are proud to take Planet X Control Room to a new level and write a new chapter on our journey to provide all of our listeners and fans on daikaiju content!
So, what do you think of Planet X Control Room rebranding to Daikaiju Network? We’ll be providing more updates to the transition and keep an eye out for it!
