Planet X Control Room: Episode 35
April 18, 2013“Frankenstein Conquers the World” Review
April 25, 2013Can’t believe I haven’t done a toy review since the 12th of May on 2010! One of the main reasons was that I wanted a better quality camera to take professional-like photos to better display the toys that we review. But with that checked off, now I can start on reviewing toy and the ones I have in my collection. So you’ll see more toy reviews in the near future here.
Anywho, with that out of the way, let’s focus on the toy that I want to mainly review on: the 1996 Bandai Plasma Gamera Theater Exclusive!
This figure was one of the purchases I made at G-FEST XIX in 2012 for around $25 or $50. I know that this theater exclusive figure from the Gamera 2: Attack of Legion film is hard to find since, of course, these were made for a limited time only throughout the film’s theatrical run. Anyways, I must say that this is an impressive figure; although, not quite as detailed than the later Bandai daikaiju figures and plus a couple flaws to the theater exclusive figure that I would like to point out.
First, there are quite a bit of welts on Gamera’s head, more particularly on both of his brows. I’m not particularly sure if that’s how he was when the mold was made or possibly being packed with other figures and made impressions on it overtime. I’m not sure – so it’s pretty much a mystery how those welts got on their.
Second, you can see small bits of paint starting to come off from the figure. As mentioned earlier though, the figure could’ve been packed with other figures and could’ve supposedly rubbed some of the paint off. Plus, there’s a couple small, scuff marks on the figure, but that’s just me being a little nit-picky here.
Other than that, the figure really presents well, and I’m glad that the infamous Bandai tag was enclosed in a protective sleeve so that it can still be considered near mint after being around for 17 years.
If you see this figure online or possibly when your at G-FEST, I’d suggest purchasing this figure; it’d be a great item to your collection. Also, just to let you know, the price might be double or triple the amount I purchased this figure in 2012.
