Planet X Control Room: Episode 54
February 8, 2014‘Gojira’ To Be Re-released In Theaters
February 21, 2014It certainly has been quite sometime since my last toy review. But nevertheless, I’m back to reviewing another toy this time; however, we’re going to review something that isn’t both an exclusive nor a theatrical exclusive. What we’re reviewing today is the 2005 Bandai GFW Godzilla Vinyl Figure!
Of course, we know Godzilla: Final Wars was released in 2004, but the figures that were released for this film were 2005 editions. Anywho, the GFW Godzilla Bandai vinyl figure stands around 8.5 inches in height and around 12 inches in length. As you can see in the figure’s photo gallery, the figure is probably one of the best when it comes to resemblence, heck, about all the Bandai vinyl figures for Godzilla: Final Wars. I would say though that this is probably one of the best Godzilla Bandai figures that I’ve come across. There’s also really no minor nor major errors on this figure, regardless if it’s a paint job or any parts of the body that looks wonky. The only small, little complaint I have is that they could have painted more areas of the tongue and possibly could’ve made his skin a tad-bit darker – but it’s still fine nevertheless.
The figure is highly detailed as Bandai has really improved their techniques over the years, and it’s so detailed, even down to the figure’s nostrils and added textures within each of his scales on his skin.
I’m not sure if the value of the figure has gone up a bit after being around for over 9 years as I’ve tried to search, but I wouldn’t doubt that it has as the Bandai Monster X vinyl figure’s price has gone up a bit between $60-$165. The figure’s price/value should be within that range today.
Overall, the figure is still in mint condition (especially the tag not even in a protective sleeve), the paint job is excellent and no signs of the paint wearing off and really detailed to where it almost looks like the actual GFW Godzilla suit. I would really recommend this figure for those who collect the Bandai vinyl figures and/or those who have collected GFW-only items – but, I think it should be in every G-Fan’s collection.
