UPDATE: Gamera Films Arriving Uncut For The First Time In The US!
May 12, 2010Planet X Control Room: Episode 6
May 15, 2010At last, I’ve FINALLY got my hands on an exclusive Godzilla figure that I’ve always wanted since I first saw pictures of it several years ago. This is the first, Godzilla Planet Exclusive Review on the 2002 Bandai GMK Glitter Godzilla vinyl figure!
This came through Priority Mail pretty quickly. I bought this last Thursday and came on Monday, however, I actually got my hands on the figure today because the Postal Service held it cause I wasn’t home at the time while at work. Once I’ve opened the box and unveiled the figure from it, it seemed to be a little bit short than I thought for an exclusive, rare figure. It stands at 8.5 inches and the length of the figure is 11.5 inches. Original Bandai figures usually stand between 9-12 inches, with the exception of the quadruped giant monster Bandai figures.
Anywho, the GMK Glitter Godzilla Bandai figure is a well-made toy. It seems to me that the figure is quite glossy, but the reason seems that the clear vinyl is the surface and that the charcoal paint was implemented from the inside just by looking at the tips of the fingers, the tail and the eyebrows of the figure. The dorsal fins, however, are painted from the outside than the rest of the paint. Other applied paint are the teeth, eyes, tongue, and nails to the fingers and toes are well-done with no scratches on the paint job.
The gold glitter which is practically the highlight of this figure are embedded in the mold; but, there are glitter applied on the outer surface of the dorsal fins. The vinyl toy is pretty detailed and has quite the resemblance to its original counterpart.
The tag is also an important part of these Bandai vinyl figures, especially for the original Bandai figures. The tag is pretty well preserved, with a minor bent corner on the top-right corner and a little dent within the tag. Overall, the tag was well kept.
However, my only gripe on this figure seems that the left leg is kind of bending inwards, to where it can’t flatly stand on its original footprint, but putting force on just one or two toenails. But other than that, I really enjoy this figure. It’s one of the most sought after, rare figures of the Millennium Series Bandai vinyl figures. It’s an awesome edition for those who likes collecting Bandai vinyl figures. This has become one of my favorites quite fast because of how the figure presents itself.
