Godzilla 2014 So Far
May 10, 2013SHOUT! Factory To Release Ultra Q On DVD
May 12, 2013I’ve been wanting to go through the purchases I made from last year’s G-FEST XIX, which in fact, I started that with my review on the 1996 Bandai Plasma Gamera Theater Exclusive figure. This next toy review is one of my pristine figure and one of the most expensive figure I’ve purchased in my collection, the 1995 M1 Burning Godzilla.
I bought this figure on Day 2 of G-FEST XIX when the vendors in the Dealer’s Room were reducing their prices on their merch, and I bought this figure at $125. Yes, that was a reduced price on this figure that day. But nevertheless, I bought the figure at that price because I really never owned any giant monster vinyl figures and such outside of Bandai and it was a very unique figure and add some spice into my collection.
The cool thing about this figure is that it was all made in red-color hard vinyl material with black lightly painted/sprayed over the red. M1 is known, along with Marmit, to have unique-looking figures, and this fits the bill; however, it seems that M1 went a little further to make this more detailed and to make it look like the actual suit, but without taking away their unique appearance.
Also, their has to be something said about the figures shortcomings than just its strengths here. One of my big gripes about the figure is the face. When looking at it face-to-face, you can kind of see that it looks like a gopher than Godzilla himself, which can be a lackluster for this figure. Another big gripe is that it has some kind of awkward stare when looking at the figure face-to-face again – kind of somewhat creepy and the left eye seems to be off just a bit. Then of course, there’s some spots where the paint is starting to wear off.
Other than that, there’s rarely any scuff marks and looks really clean like it came right out of the factory; but, this figure came out in 1995. That’s how clean this figure still is. I’m glad I purchased this figure and have it in my collection and have no regrets whatsoever. If you spot this figure in person, on eBay or wherever, you should definitely pick this up.
